We can use sedation to help alleviate nerves and anxiety and to put you into a dream-like state. It is not a painkiller but instead works to put the patient into a state where you remain conscious, but unaware of what is happening. Some patients may even feel as though no time has passed at all.
At Manor Lodge Dental Practice, we use both oral and intravenous (IV) sedation. After consultation during which we discuss your medical history, we’ll decide which sedation type is most appropriate for you.
Yes. Regardless of which type of sedation we use, you will need to be accompanied to your appointment and home again by a friend or family member. You should also avoid driving, drinking alcohol, and being solely responsible for small children for 24 hours afterwards.
