We recommend bi-annual check-ups for children and adult patients alike. It’s especially important to make sure we’re seeing our younger patients on a regular basis, as long-term oral health can be determined by the treatment and care they receive as children.
At Manor Lodge Dental Practice, we recommend bringing children in from when their first tooth erupts, or by the time they turn one. This may sound young, but the early stages of development are paramount, and it’s important to get young children used to visiting the dentist from a young age. This will not only help normalise taking care of their teeth and oral health, but help stop any dental phobias or anxieties from developing.
The most important service we offer for our younger patients is regular check-ups. At these, we’ll be able to examine the development of the teeth and spot any issues that may need addressing early on. This could include orthodontic treatment in older children and teenagers, as well as fluoride treatments or fillings. We can also offer advice on mouthguards for sports.
As with all our patients, at-home care is all-important when it comes to taking care of children’s teeth and their oral health. It’s essential for parents to encourage a regular oral health regime, and to make taking care of their teeth a part of their morning and evening routine. If you’re unsure where to start, we can offer advice on toothpaste and toothbrushes and on developing a routine that works for you and your children.
