What causes discolouration-
This is a natural process and teeth get darker with time and certain food products and lifestyles can increase the discolouration. These are smoking, drinking tea, coffee, red wine. Whitening your teeth by a professional can help reduce this discolouration in a safe manner.
What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is a process of bleaching your teeth with gels and special lighting equipment to reduce discolouration. This can be done at home or in the dental surgery under supervision to get long lasting results.
Home whitening- Your dentist would provide you with customized equipment and instructions for the procedure. The gel is inserted in the trays and then used for a few hours during the day or overnight to gradually whiten the teeth in the comfort of your own home. It might take from 2-4 weeks to get the desired results and your dentist will be monitoring you at regular intervals.
Zoom whitening- This is carried out in the surgery with gels and special lighting equipment to activate them. This gives you whiter teeth in a short time of as less as 30 minutes depending upon your teeth. This colour can then be maintained by home whitening regularly.
Are there any risks of teeth whitening?
There is a risk of transient sensitivity but it settles in a short while. It must be noted that none of the fillings, crowns or other dental work will whiten, just the natural tooth.
Why do it with us?
Supervised teeth whitening gives you better and long-lasting results in a safe manner. Over the counter toothpastes, gels and strips do not produce similar results and riks of getting gum problems and sensitivity is higher.
